The Industry Expert Lab (Green Belt)
Domain Authority | Weeks 5-8
Technical skill is useless if you cannot speak the customer's dialect. In this phase, you will leave the software behind and immerse yourself in the customer's P&L and daily friction.
Lab 1: Industry Deep-Dive
Objective: Map regulatory pressures and financial drivers to software features. Prepare to pass the "Jargon Test."
1
Sector Selection: Choose a target vertical (e.g., Healthcare, FinTech, Manufacturing). Download the 10-K (Annual Report) of a major player in that space.
2
The Risk Map: Identify the top 3 regulatory threats (e.g., HIPAA, SOX, OSHA) and the top 3 profit levers (e.g., Reducing Day Sales Outstanding, Inventory Turn).
3
The Translation: Create a "Glossary of Pain." Map our software features specifically to those risks and levers. Do not use technical terms; use their terms.
Pass Criteria
- Glossary contains at least 20 industry-specific terms defined accurately.
- "Feature Mapping" document clearly links 3 major features to P&L impacts.
- The Oral Board: Pass a 15-minute conversation with a Subject Matter Expert without using nexTier internal jargon.
Lab 2: "Day in the Life" Simulation
Objective: Experience the user's friction firsthand. Document the precise value delta between the "Old Way" and the "New Way."
1
The Manual Way: You will be given a set of raw data and a task (e.g., "reconcile these 500 invoices"). You must do this manually using only Excel and Email. Timer is running.
2
The Friction Log: Record every frustration. Where did you copy-paste? Where did you worry about data entry errors? Where did you wait for an email reply?
3
The Automated Way: Perform the exact same task using the nexTier configured instance. Record the time difference.
Pass Criteria
- Time Study: Produce a side-by-side comparison of "Manual vs. Automated" process time.
- Friction Log: Identify at least 5 distinct points of failure in the manual process.
- Value Statement: Write a one-paragraph executive summary quantifying the efficiency gain (e.g., "Reduces processing time by 82%").
